You crack an egg into hot oil and it spits back at your forearms, then films the tiles behind the stove with tiny grease flecks that go rock hard by morning and take a scrubbing pad.
The ShieldPro is a fine stainless steel mesh screen that lays flat over the pan. Oil hits the tight weave and drops back in, so nothing reaches your arms or splashback while steam still escapes freely.

How does a mesh screen stop oil splatter?
The ShieldPro is woven from fine 304 stainless steel mesh. When hot oil jumps out of the pan it hits the tight weave, loses its heat and momentum, and the droplets condense and roll straight back into the pan. Because the weave is fine enough to catch oil but open enough to let steam through, your food still browns and crisps instead of stewing under a solid lid. Nothing lands on your forearms or the splashback.
Will it fit my pans?
The ShieldPro is sized to sit over most home pans and frypans from 24cm to 30cm across. It rests on the rim rather than clipping on, so it works across that whole range without any adjusting. If you cook on a smaller 20cm pan it still sits neatly on top. For anything wider than 30cm, like a large paella pan, it will cover most but not all of the surface.
Does food still cook properly under it?
Yes. Unlike a solid lid that traps steam and leaves food soggy, the mesh lets steam and moisture vent straight through the weave. That means your steak keeps its crust, your stir-fry stays crisp and your bacon still goes golden. You get the browning of an open pan with none of the oil hitting you. It is designed to sit over the pan while you are actively frying at high heat.
How often do I need to clean it and how?
Give it a rinse or wipe after each frying session so oil does not build up in the weave. A quick pass under hot water with a little dish soap clears most of it, and it is dishwasher-safe if you would rather leave it. Because it is 304 stainless steel it will not rust or stain, and the mesh does not hold onto smells the way plastic guards do. A wipe takes seconds.
Where does it store when I am not using it?
The rim folds and clicks flat, so the whole guard collapses down to sit alongside your chopping boards or in a standard kitchen drawer. You do not need a hook or a spare cupboard shelf for it. For small rental kitchens where bench space is tight, this is the difference between using it every night and it living in the back of a cupboard. Unfold it and it clicks rigid again in a second.
Is stainless steel safe over high heat and open flame?
Yes. 304 stainless steel is the same food-grade metal used in quality cookware and it handles the heat of a searing pan on gas, electric or induction without warping or releasing anything into your food. The metal rim stays cool enough to lift with a tea towel or oven mitt. There is no plastic frame to melt and no coating to flake off over time.
